We expect safe, clean, good-tasting water to come from our tap. It’s the state’s responsibility to protect that interest and regulate polluters. I don’t really think about how my actions may impact the environment or my water.

It’s the state’s job to hold polluters accountable. Ag & industry polluted our streams & groundwater basins; they should have to pay to clean it up. If we protect water quality in the ecosystem, it’ll be cheaper to provide safe, clean water for human use.

Other water users benefit from the cleanliness of our water, because we’ve protected the headwaters. They should have to pay to keep protecting and/or restore those ecosystems to maintain that benefit.

Why should we be responsible for cleaning up water degraded by other users? They should have to treat it before they discharge.

It should be the state’s job, not ours, to clean up legacy contamination. We didn’t cause it, why should we pay for it? Most of the harm is from the ag sector anyways.
