We don't waste time on things that do not work toward our learning objectives

Should follow a clear and logical progression, lessons should build on each other and you may need to circle back sometimes to make sure that students "get" the previous lesson objectives

Design a class activity where students act out the various steps of a chemical reaction, showing the importance of the balance of various elements.

Have students think about their favorite element and it's role in society

Have your students complete a paper assignment (working individually) where they balance various chemical equations.

Complete in an class lab assignment where it becomes clear that the outcome of the lab is effected when we don't properly balance our chemical equations
