To all 9^th grade students,

We would like to conduct a school trip to Jogya from 22^nd to to 28^th December 2018.the purpose of the trip is to make students learn more about the cultural heritage of the nation. The fee is Rp. 1.000.000. Students will visit several tourist spots like the palace, Prambanan temple, Borobudur temple and Parang Tritis beach. We will stay in three stars hotel in the downtown. I was one of the 30 Indonesian participants who were selected to participate in a three-week study program in Osaka. Japan. The program was organized and funded by Mombusho, the Japanese Ministry of education.

Each of the participants stayed with a Japanese family throughout the duration of the program. The family I had stayed with was very kind, generous and humble. I was treated like a prince literally ! Their son was studying at the same school that I was attached to for three weeks ad we took the train daily to our school.

I was a splendid learning experience for me at the school. I picked up basic Japanese language skills which allowed me to converse with the pupils without much difficulty. The students there were ever ready to help me with studies. The average Japanese student is smart. They are also good at sports. They are well mannered, well dressed, always polite and humble even though many of them hail from rich families.

One very interesting and peculiar habit of them which I have acquired is bending the upper body to acknowledge the other. I think it is a good custom that shows respect for the other.

The food is another experience. Japanese like sea food and that explains why majority of them are slim and health. They also eat lots of vegetables and I actually picked up the habit of eating more vegetables from them. But their peculiar liking for raw fish and prawns is something I do not share

My experience in Japan had been invaluable. My only hope is more Indonesian students would be given the opportunity to experience the culture and school environment there.

Mahogany

In the natural rainforest, Mahogany is a very large canopy tree, sometimes reaching over 150 feet in height, with trunks sometimes more than 6 feet in diameter above a large basal buttress. It is a generally open-crowned tree, with grey to brownish-red cracked bark.

Mahogany is perhaps the most valuable timber tree in the whole of Latin America and has been heavily exploited for most of this century. Mahogany is becoming increasingly rare, and is already extinct in parts of its original range. It is listed as threatened in "Arboles Maderables en Peligro de Extinción en Costa Rica" and is listed in CITES Appendix III.

Mahogany varies from yellowish, reddish, pinkish, or salmon coloured when freshly cut, to a deep rich red, to reddish brown as the wood matures with age. Mahogany is fine to medium texture, with uniform to joining grain, ranging from straight to wavy or curly. Irregularities in the grain often produce highly attractive figures such as fiddle back or spotty pattern. Mahogany polishes to a high glow, with excellent working and finishing characteristics. It responds well to hand and machine tools, has good nailing and screwing properties, and turns and carves beautifully.

Mahogany is regarded by many as the world's premier wood for fine cabinetry, high-class furniture, trimming fine boats, pianos and other musical instruments, sculpture, joinery, turnery, figured and decorative veneer, interior trim, and carving.
