This region lies between the Rocky Mountains and mountains farther West. Part of this region is the Great Basin. This region also has many plateaus and canyons

This region is made up of 2 plains areas. The Central Plains in the Eastern part is mostly flat with some rolling hills and good farmland. In the Western part, The Great Plains is a much flatter area that rises to meet the base of the Rocky Mountains
