The little fish had a plan to escape. He had seen his owners watch a movie where the fish claimed that "all drains lead to the ocean." He figured if he could get flushed down the toliet one day, then he could make his grand Escape. The plan was an absolutely disgusting thought, but the fish planned to play dead with the hopes that his owners would flush him. The idea was risky and not very pleasant, but it was the only one he had.

The next day, the little fish decided to play dead. His genius plan came to a halt when the owners brought in their new pet: a little tabby cat. The tabby cat jumped to the fish's table where the fish was floating near the top of the water. "Yum," the cat licked its lips, "I see a yummy snack that I do not even have to kill."

The scared fished stopped faking his death. "Please don't eat me! I am not dead! I just want to escape down the toliet to the ocean!" The cat laughed and scorned the fish, "You dumb fish! You are a goldfish! Goldfish survive in freshwater. You would die in the ocean!" The fish was disheartened by this news and rendered speechless.

The fish became saddened. How would he escape now? The cat thought about the Fish's problem. "I will help you escape." The fish was shocked. Hadn't this cat just wanted to eat him? The cat explained, "I see the way the family stops and admires you. I want to be the only pet to be admired. I will help you escape for this reason." The fish was skeptical about taking help from the cat.

The fish decided to listen to the cat's idea. It's not like he had a choice, anyways. He was stuck in his bowl after all. The cat circled the bowl and said, "There is a small pond outside. There are plenty of yummy- I- I mean friendly coy fish and goldfish that live there. I can help you travel to the pond where you will be able to live freely. All you have to do is let me carry you in my mouth to the pond."

"How do I know you will not eat me? This seems like trick," said the fish. The cat smiled widely, "If I wanted to eat you now, I could. But I do not. Is that not proof enough of my intentions?" The fish sighed, bubbles rising to the tank, and said "Fine, I agree to your terms."

The next day, the cat scooped the fish into his mouth. The fish was terrified. The cat had such sharp teeth. The cat ran the fish out the cat door to the pond where he released the fish. The fish had been freed at last!

The little goldfish looked through the ripples of the pond to the cat. "I did not trust you at first, but I suppose looks can be decieving. Thank you for helping me." The cat shrugged, "I'm not going to promise that I won't try to paw at you on my daily walks...Let's agree not to mention this again." The cat walked away proudly, but from that day on, it would walk by the pond on regular basis. He would always stop by the pond and make eye contact with the fish. The two would nod to each other, and that was all. Secretly, two unlikely animals gained a mutal respect fo the other.
