Maleeka is being transferred to a new school where her favorite teacher works, Miss Saunders. She is excited to be able to continue learning from Miss Saunders because they are both from the same neighborhood.

Maleeka is telling us about herself and her classmates. She is made fun of because of her skin color and her clothes. She is incredibly smart, but people only care about what she looks like.

Maleeka is worried Char is going to find out that she has a crush on Char's boyfriend. She's trying to keep it quiet, but someone found a note that Maleeka wrote about how much she is in love. Maleeka knows Char is going to be mad, but there's nothing she can do about it.

Maleeka and Char are on their way to school to take their math test, but Char asks Maleeka if she can cheat off of her because Char didn't study over the weekend. Maleeka feels uncomfortable about the request, but she can never say no to Char, so she agrees to let her cheat during the test.

Maleeka decides to skip school and go shopping with Char. They end up getting caught by the police and spend the night in jail. When Maleeka gets home, her mother is furious and grounds her.

Maleeka notices that Miss. Saunders is telling Char to get to class when she is with her boyfriend in the hall. Char becomes argumentative and disrespectful towards Miss Saunders and makes fun of her face. Tai, the math teacher, then comes and says hi to Miss Saunders. We find out that they're old friends from college.

Char and Maleeka are seen in the hallway making fun of everyone that walks by them because of the clothes that they're wearing. When Miss Saunders shows up, Maleeka makes fun of her face, but tries to steal her fancy watch. Miss Saunders tells Maleeka she can wear it for the day, but she wants it back by the end of the school day.

Char is caught by Miss Saunders in the hallway being inappropriate with her boyfriend. Miss Saunders sends her to the office where she is issued a suspension and she is sent home for three days.
