He graduated from Platteville State Normal School (1900) and the Univ. of Wisconsin (Ph.B., 1916). He was teacher, principal, and school superintendent at various schools in the state (1900-1923), and was head of the English department at Eau Claire State Teachers College (1916-1918). In 1923 he became secretary of the Wisconsin Teachers' Association, and in 1925 editor of the Wis. Journal of Education. He wrote about the history of Wisconsin public schools and was an amazing influence in public schools.
