Who is she?

She was a pioneering physicist and scientist, who coined the term radioactivity, discovered two new elements (radium and polonium) and developed a portable x-ray machine.

She was the first person (not woman) who has won two separate Noble Prizes, one for physics and another for chemistry, and to this day she is the only person, regardless of gender, to receive Noble prizes for two different sciences.

Who is she?

Known as “the Mother Teresa of Montréal,” she works tirelessly to feed the hungry in Montréal. Over the past 30 years, she has prepared more than 700,000 meals, most of the time in her own kitchen. She founded a shelter for women and has raised hundreds of thousands of dollars for humanitarian causes.

In 2017, she received the Lifetime of Service to Humanity Award from the RS Foundation, a Canadian organization dedicated to improving living conditions for people living in South Asia. In 2005, she received the Lifetime Achievement Award from the Canadian Council on American-Islamic Relations and the Community Service Award from the Muslim Council of Montreal. In 2015, the Canadian Council of Muslim Women also presented her with the Women Who Inspire Award.

Who is she?

Her father was a teacher and ran an all girl school in her village in Pakistan , however when the Taliban took over her town they enforced a ban on all girls going to school. In 2012, at the age of 15, she publicly spoke out on women's right to education and as a result, a gunman boarded her school bus and shot the young activist in the head.

She survived.

She moved to the UK where she has become a fierce presence on the world stage and became the youngest ever recipient of the Nobel Peace Prize in 2014, at 17 years old.
