Meditation verse for the book of First Chronicles chapters 1 to 9:

In chapter 1 we learn about the genealogies from Adam until Father Abram to Jacob.

In chapter 2 we learn about the genealogies from Jacob (Israel) to King David.

In chapter 3 we learn about the genealogies from King David until the sons of Elioenenai.

In chapter 4 through chapter 8 we learn about the genealogies of each tribe of Israel.

In chapter 9 we learn about the names of the Children of Israel who came back from the Exile.

Why the bible cared to mention all these names throughout the 9 chapters?

1-This genealogy reveals God’s care for mankind. God loves us and know us by name. He knows our family, our friends, our school, our church and everyplace we go to.

2- These genealogies confirm that the Lord Jesus Christ is a descendant of David the son of Abraham, the One promised to the people of God as the Savior of the world, in whom the prophecies were fulfilled.

3- Going through these chapters, we encounter people along the generations, through whom we get lessons for the edification of our souls and learn from some of them how they came to be great in the sight of the Lord. Ex: Enoch who walked with God and went to heaven alive. Also, Methuselah who lived on earth 969 years, longest one lived on earth as a symbol of God’s blessing.

In chapter 4 verse 10 we read about the deep prayer of Jabez and how God answered him.

God hears our prayers and answers it especially if our prayers are according to God’s well as Jabez who asked God to keep him from evil ways.
