Check flange/gasket faces free from grease,dirt,rust welding spatter and damage

Stud bolts are undamaged

Replacement bolts are of the correct type, length,diameter and thread

Check the bolts and nuts for reuse

Place gasket between the flanges, bolts wil locate it in the correct position

Fit bolts in the lower half of the flange, screw the nuts on hand tight

Set up flange faces with the bolt holes of both flanges aligned

Tighten all bolts in the correct sequence

Remove and wedges

Use tapered shank podger to ease the flanges into the correct alignment

Mae sure you have identified the correct line

Slip preformed metal pipe over and around the insulation

Lap the next piece at least 25mm onto first piece, keep overlap downwards to shed the water

Secure the lagging sheets with 2 securing bands, one at the lap and one on the center

Secure the banding sheets with 2 securing bands, one at the lap and one on the center

Use a joining strap to hold the sections against each other

Use a sealing compound to provide further waterproofing

Tighten the strap with a banding strap wrench

Tighten the strap with a bending strap wrench

Remove/Replace 1 bolt at the time

Inspect the bolts/nuts for wear and damage

Replace all damaged,corroded bolts and nuts

If nuts/bolts are reusable, clean and grease before reinstalling

If nuts/bolts are not reusable, clean and grease before reinstalling

Follow the hot bolting pattern

Replace bolts sequentially(1 after the other) around the flange

Replace bolt to ensure it is correctly tightened before loosening the next bolt

If nuts/bolts are not reusable, clean and grease before reinstalling

Obtain a work permit

Ensure area is clearly marked and isolated from traffic(roped off to stop people walking through)

Replace bolt to ensure it is correctly tightened before loosening the next bolt

Never remove more that 1 bolt at the time
