As a radio personality __I meet people who are hardworking and don’t need to be pushed into learning standard English to survive.

If we are true Americans__we should not discriminate against those who don’t speak standard English well. 

Many immigrants come to America and easily find a job __ their broken English or nonstandard dialect does not hamper their careers in any way.

They can do their jobs effectively without speaking standard English__for example, I met a lady who arrived from Mexico six-years ago.

She owns a successful cleaning service and communicates without speaking “proper” English__ furthermore, she probably makes more money than I do.

When she needs to conduct serious business about her property or bank accounts

__ she uses her daughter as an interpreter.

As far as I’m concerned __that is achieving the American dream. 

African-American vernacular connects many people in our community__children, parents and their peers.

Their language is closely connected and embedded in their culture__ however, many educators believe that children should be forced to speak only standard English in order to do well and be accepted in our society.

We should not denigrate the language of any American for this one reason__languge is an integral part of one's identity.

We cannot judge people by the way they talk__ our status is not determined by our speech.

If people get their point across__nothing else matters.
