There are pros and cons of both giving secret and public Sadaqah!

If a relative in need but has made you angry, it is okay to not give him Sadaqah and instead give a needy stranger.

Sadaqah would be given on behalf of the dead.

It is permissible to boast about how much money you have given in Sadaqah.

It is forbidden for the Sadaqah giver to remind the recipient of his gifts.

Sadaqah can only be money or gold

A Muslim should always find ways to give Sadaqah

Money gained in unlawful way is okay to give for Sadaqah since it will be benefiting the poor

It is better to give public Sadaqah than secret Sadaqah
