Songs for A Dying Planet

Is anyone out there?
Does anybody listen or care anymore?
We are living on a dying planet,
We’re killing everything that’s alive,
And anyone who tries to deny it
Wears a tie
And gets paid to lie

So I wrote these songs for a dying planet,
I’m sorry but I’m telling the truth,
And for everybody trying to save it
These songs are for you, too.
Is anyone out there?

QUESTION:

“And gets paid to lie”. The word “gets paid” means....

Mr. Roger : “Try not to be absent from class again for the rest of the term. You have missed too many classes. And you ... two classes just last week.” 

 
Johnson    : “I’m so sorry, Sir.”

Mr. Kent told me that he couldn’t come to the meeting the following day.

Alex is an artist. He has drawn many beautiful pictures .... He just drew a beautiful scene last week.   

I missed the final match ... a traffic hold-up.

Jean : ”Yes, after she ... her brother.’

Lisa : “What do you think of my new dress?”
Ray : “How beautiful it is! It suits you perfectly.”
Lisa : “Thank you. I found it from one of the market places. I’m glad I bought it because It is ... in the market.”
