아빠는 “나는 우리 가족이 함께 앉아서 각자의 스마트폰만 보고 있는 걸 보는 게 참 싫구나.”라고 말씀하셨다.
He said, "I hate to see you [to sit / sitting] together and only [look / looking] at your smartphones."

여동생과 내가 스마트폰이 필요하다고 설명했지만, 아빠는 스마트폰이 있으면 여행을 충분히 즐길 수 없을 거라고 계속해서 말씀하셨다.
My sister and I explained the need for smartphones, but he kept [to say / saying] [what / that] we could not fully enjoy the trip with [it / them].

그래서 우리는 새로운 도시인 스페인의 바르셀로나로 ‘첨단 과학 기술 없는’ 여행을 시작했다.
So we started a [technology-free / technology-freely] trip to a new city, Barcelona, Spain.

우리의 첫째 날은 엉망이었다. 레이알 광장 주변에 있는 여행자 숙소로 가는 길에 우리는 바르셀로나 시내에서 길을 잃었다.
Our first day was [terrible/ terribly]. On the way to our guesthouse around Plaza Reial, we got [lost / losing] in downtown Barcelona.

아빠는 지도를 보며 여행 안내 책자에서 배운 스페인어 몇 마디로 길을 묻느라 분주하셨다.
Dad was busy [look / looking] at the map and [ask / asking] for directions with a [few / little] Spanish words he got from a tour guidebook.

 우리의 숙소가 광장 바로 옆에 있었음에도 불구하고, 우리가 그곳에 도착하는 데는 거의 두 시간이 걸렸다.
[In spite of / Even though] our guesthouse was right [next / next to] the Plaza, it took us about two hours [getting / to get] there.

우리는 너무 피곤해서 저녁을 먹으러 나갈 수가 없었다.
We were [so / too] [tired / tiring] [to / that] we could not go out for dinner.

나는 잠자리에 들었지만 내일 무슨 일이 일어날지 걱정이 되어서 잠들 수가 없었다.
I went to bed but couldn't fall asleep [because / because of] I was worried about [that / what] would [happen / be happened] the next day.

가우디가 지은 구엘 공원을 둘러본 후, 우리는 점심으로 해산물 볶음밥을 먹기로 했다.
After [looked / looking] around Gaudi's Park Guell, we decided [having / to have] seafood [fried / frying] rice for lunch.

그러나 우리는 어떤 식당으로 가야 할지 몰랐다.
However, we didn't know which restaurant [going / to go] to.

우리는 도움이 필요했고, 엄마가 한 노부인에게 가서 인기 있는 해산물 식당으로 가는 길을 물어보려 애쓰셨다.
We needed help, so Mom went up to an elderly lady and [try / tried] to [ask / asking] for directions to a [popular / popularly] seafood restaurant.

운이 좋게도 그녀는 몇 마디 안 되는 엄마의 스페인어를 이해하는 듯했다.
Luckily, she seemed [understanding / to understand] Mom's few Spanish words.

그녀는 우리를 근처에 있는 작은 현지 식당으로 데려다 주었다.
She took [to us / us to] a small [local / locally] restaurant nearby.

그 해산물 볶음밥은 놀랍도록 맛있었다.
The seafood [fried / frying] rice was [amazed / amazing].

나는 음식 사진을 찍어 그것을 내 블로그에 올리고 싶은 마음이 정말 간절했다.
I really wanted [taking / to take] pictures of the food and [post / posting] [it / them] on my blog.

그러나 스마트폰이 없었기 때문에 나는 그냥 그 순간을 즐기기로 했다.
But without my phone, I just decided [enjoying / to enjoy] the moment.

(여행의) 남아 있는 날들 동안, 우리는 점점 더 현지 사람들에게 의존하게 되었다.
[During / While] the remaining days, we relied more and [more / most] [on / to] the locals.

우리는 거리에서, 빵집에서, 공원에서 다양한 사람들을 만나 이야기할 수 있었다.
We were able [meeting / to meet] and [talk / talking] with various people on the streets, in the bakeries, and in the parks.

그들은 항상 웃으면서 너무나 친절히도 바르셀로나의 다양한 면을 우리에게 보여 주었다.
They were always [kind enough / enough kind] [showing / to show] [us / to us] different sides of Barcelona with a smile.

또한 우리 가족은 서로 많은 대화를 나누었다.
Also, our family [talked / talking] a lot with each [other / another].

우리는 스페인식 기차에서, 버스에서, 그리고 식당에서 많은 시간을 함께 보냈다.
We spent [many / much] of our time together on the Spanish train, on the bus, and at the restaurants.

우리의 ‘첨단 과학 기술 없는’ 여행은 새롭고 색다른 경험이었다.
Our [technology-free / technology-freely] trip was a [new / newly] and [different / differently] experience.

여행 전에 나는 내 스마트폰에 너무 의존해서 그것 없이는 아무것도 할 수 없었다.
Before the trip, I was [so / too] [dependent / dependently] on my smartphone [what / that] I couldn't do anything without [it / them].

하지만 지금은 내가 스마트폰 없이도 그 순간을 즐길 수 있음을 알고 있다.
But now I see [what / that] I can enjoy the moment without it.

 그 경험을 통해, 나는 스마트폰을 균형 있게 사용하는 것이 중요함을 배우게 되었다.
From the experience, I have [learned / been learned] the [importance / important] of a [balanced / balancing] use of the smartphone.

그러면, 다음번에 나는 스마트폰 없이 여행을 하게 될까?
So, next time, would I [travel / travelled] without a smartphone?

아마도 그렇지는 않을 것이다. 하지만 나는 그것을 좀 더 현명하게 사용하기 위해 노력할 것이다.
Probably not. But I will try to [use / using] it [wiser / more wisely].
