Spend a year in Maine and you will be amazed by the differences between the summer and winter seasons. Firstly, the weather is very different. While it is boiling in the summer, it can be extremely cold in the winter. Sometimes, it can snow up to half a meter in one day, so all the animals and humans seem to hide from the cold weather outside. Secondly, the scenery is very distinctive in summer and winter. There is a great variety of green trees and flowers blooming in the summer whereas in the winter, houses and streets are covered in a blanket of snow. Thirdly, the activities are also different between the two seasons. People can swim in the rivers, have barbeques, or go hiking in the mountains in the summer. In the winter, people can only go skiing and snowboarding. Even though the winter seems dull compared to the summer, it is one of the most magical times of the year: families gather for Christmas celebrations in December.
