B. GRAMMAR Thì Quá khứ đơn 1. To be ở thì Quá khứ đơn và cách dùng To be ở thì Quá khứ đơn có 2 dạng, đó là was và were . Cách dùng cụ thể như sau:

- I, he, she, it, danh từ số ít/không đếm được + was - We, you, they, danh từ đếm được số nhiều + were

2. Cấu trúc a. Câu khẳng định Với to be: S + was/were + N/adj/prep + ... Với động từ thường: S + V past + O.

Ví dụ: They were at the campsite yesterday. (Hôm qua họ đã ở khu cắm trại.) I listened to music yesterday. (Hôm qua tôi đã nghe nhạc.)

b. Câu phủ định: Với to be: S + wasn’t/weren’t + N/adj/prep + ... Với động từ thường: S + didn’t + V nguyên mẫu + O.

Ví dụ: They weren’t at the campsite yesterday. (Hôm qua họ đã không ở khu cắm trại.) I didn’t listen to music yesterday. (Hôm qua tôi đã không nghe nhạc.)

c. Câu hỏi - Câu hỏi dạng Yes/No: + Với to be: Was/Were + S + N/adj/prep + ...? Trả lời: Yes, S was/were. hoặc No, S wasn’t/weren’t + Với động từ thường: Did + S + V nguyên mẫu +...? Trả lời: Yes, S did. hoặc No, S didn’t.

Ví dụ: + Were you at the the stadium last week? (Cuối tuần trước bạn có ở sân vận động không?) Yes, I was. (Có, tôi đã ở đó.) + Did you play football last Sunday? (Bạn có chơi bóng đá vào thứ Bảy tuần trước không?) No, I didn’t. (Tôi đã không chơi.)

- Câu hỏi với từ để hỏi: Với to be: Wh + was/were + S + N/adj/prep + ...? Với động từ thường: Wh + S + V nguyên mẫu + ...?

Ví dụ: What was your favourite subject as a child? (Hồi còn bé bạn thích môn học nào?) What did you do at the cinema last week? (Bạn đã làm gì ở rạp chiếu phim vào tuần trước vậy?)
