SSA-Forces and Motion

A non-contact force is a force that can act on an object without any physical contact between the objects. Examples include magnetism and gravity.

1. Using a magnet 2. Electricity 3. Two balloons repelling each other.

An unbalanced force is a force that causes an object to change its motion, such as speeding up, slowing down, or changing direction.

The object can change direction, speed up, or stop.

When forces are balanced, the object does not move or remains at rest.

Gravity is a force that pulls objects toward each other. On Earth, it pulls everything toward the center of the planet.

Gravity causes all objects to fall toward the ground when dropped.

A push force is a force that moves an object away from the person or thing applying the force.

A pull force is a force that draws an object closer to the person or thing applying the force.

Neither team will move; they will remain in the same position.
