Plot Structure

The exposition is the part of a story that introduces the characters, setting, and basic situation, typically occurring at the beginning.

The resolution is the part of the story where the conflict is resolved, and the story comes to a close, often summarized by the phrase 'and they all lived happily ever after.'

The narrator is the person who tells the story, providing the perspective from which the events are recounted.

The falling action is the part of the story that occurs after the climax, leading towards the resolution and showing the results of the climax.

The two key elements introduced during the exposition are the characters and the setting.

The climax is the most intense, exciting, or important point of the story, where the main conflict reaches its peak.

The rising action builds tension and develops the conflict, leading up to the climax.

The setting provides the time and place of the story, influencing the mood, characters, and events.

Conflict is the struggle between opposing forces, which drives the plot and creates tension.

The main types of conflict are character vs. character, character vs. self, character vs. society, and character vs. nature.
