(08/29) Unit 1 Sampling Methods & Types of Studies Flashcard

A sampling method where every nth individual is selected from a list or queue, ensuring a systematic approach to sampling.

A sampling method where every individual has an equal chance of being selected, typically achieved through random number generation.

A sampling method that involves dividing the population into subgroups (strata) and randomly sampling from each stratum.

A sampling method where the population is divided into clusters, and entire clusters are randomly selected for sampling.

A sampling method where individuals choose to participate, often leading to biased results due to self-selection.

A study where the researcher manipulates one or more variables to observe the effect on another variable, establishing cause-and-effect relationships.

A study where the researcher observes and records behavior without manipulating any variables, often used to identify correlations.

To collect data from a sample of individuals to infer conclusions about a larger population.

Qualitative research focuses on understanding concepts and experiences, while quantitative research focuses on numerical data and statistical analysis.

A subset of individuals selected from a larger population, used to make inferences about the whole population.
