Energy Budget

The energy budget refers to the balance between the energy received from the sun and the energy lost back to space. It helps in understanding how energy is distributed in the Earth's atmosphere.

16% of solar energy is absorbed by the atmosphere.

30% of solar energy is reflected back into space.

We can see visible light.

19% of solar energy is absorbed by the atmosphere and clouds.

6% of solar energy is reflected by the atmosphere.

Visible light is the part of the electromagnetic spectrum that can be seen by the human eye.

Infrared radiation is a type of electromagnetic radiation with wavelengths longer than visible light, often felt as heat.

Ultraviolet radiation is a type of electromagnetic radiation with wavelengths shorter than visible light, which can cause sunburn.

The Earth's surface absorbs solar energy and re-emits it as heat, influencing the temperature and climate.
