Pictographs, Frequency Tables, Bar Graphs- Third Grade

A pictograph is a graph that uses pictures or symbols to represent data. Each picture represents a certain number of items.

A frequency table is a way to organize data that shows how often each item occurs.

A bar graph is a visual representation of data using bars of different heights or lengths to show the quantity of each item.

To read a pictograph, look at the pictures and count how many each picture represents to find the total for each category.

The height of a bar in a bar graph represents the quantity or frequency of the item it represents.

To find the total number of items in a frequency table, add up all the frequencies listed.

Graphs and tables help us organize and visualize data to make it easier to understand and compare.

If a bar is taller than another in a bar graph, it means that the item represented by the taller bar has a greater quantity or frequency.

You can tell which item is the most popular in a pictograph by looking for the picture that represents the highest number of items.

You could ask questions like 'How many hours do you spend on homework each week?' to gather data for a frequency table.
