This inclusion represents crystallized aggregates of hemoglobin due to an amino acid substitution on each of two beta chains. Lysine is substituted for glutamic acid on one, and valine is substituted for glutamic acid on the other. Inclusion resembles a baseball glove or the Washington monument.

This inclusion is composed of DNA and appears as a single dense round purple granule. Most commonly associated with post-splenectomy.
