The opposite viewpoint of the author’s claim. It is mentioned so the author can disprove it with stronger evidence that supports their claim.

When the author responds directly to the counterclaim. The author provides reasons why the counterclaim is not as strong as the claim.

The author is able to be believed and trusted. Look for the author’s credentials and background, where the article was published, and cited and reliable evidence used to support the claim.
