FLASHCARD QUESTION

Front

Why does the east coast (NY) have more precipitation than the west coast (LA)?

Back

The warm ocean current on the east coast allows for more evaporation, causing more precipitation. While the California current of the west coast comes from the poles, it is a cold current and cools the air around it. This cold, sinking air makes evaporation more difficult. Takes more thermal energy.
