Biotechnology is the use of living organisms or their products to develop or create useful products, often involving genetic modification.

A pure substance is a material that has a constant composition and consistent properties throughout. Examples include elements and compounds.

Natural selection is the process where organisms with favorable traits are more likely to survive and reproduce, leading to the adaptation of species over time.

Carbon cycling is the process by which carbon is exchanged among the biosphere, geosphere, hydrosphere, and atmosphere, including the release of carbon dioxide during the burning of plant material.

A gas is one of the four fundamental states of matter, characterized by having no fixed shape or volume and being compressible.

GMOs are organisms whose genetic material has been altered using genetic engineering techniques, often to enhance desired traits such as resistance to pests or improved nutritional content.

The law of conservation of mass states that mass is neither created nor destroyed in a chemical reaction; the mass of the reactants equals the mass of the products.

An ecosystem is a community of living organisms interacting with their physical environment, including both biotic and abiotic components.

Herbivores are primary consumers that feed on plants, playing a crucial role in energy transfer within an ecosystem.

An element is a pure substance that cannot be broken down into simpler substances, while a compound is made up of two or more elements chemically bonded together.
