Buildings combine pleasant-looking forms and playful colors to convey new ideas and to create spaces that are more people-friendly than their modernist predecessors.

Traditional Architecture

Buildings that typically use building materials available in the local area and reflect social/environmental customs of the people.

Universalizing Religion

A religion that attempts to appeal to all people, not just those living in a particular location and seeks to convert people.

An increase in the percentage and in the number of people living in urban settlements.

The art, housing, clothing, sports, dances, foods, and other similar items constructed or created by a group of people (cultural artifacts).

Popular Culture (Global Culture)

Cultural traits such as dress, diet, and music that identify and are part of today's changeable, urban-based, media-influenced, western societies, spread through contagious and hierarchical diffusion.

Customs, beliefs, or traits of a small homogenous group of people that have existed for a long time without changing. These groups usually live in more rural areas with limited interaction with other groups. If this culture spreads, it usually spreads through relocation diffusion.

Reverse Hierarchical Diffusion

When a trait spreads from areas of little influence, smaller, more isolated rural areas to areas of high influence, such as highly populated urban areas. (ex: Walmart, NASCAR).
