• Definition: A word that describes a verb, an adjective, or another adverb.

• It answers the questions: How? When? Where? or To what extent?

• Examples:

  • Describes Verb (How): Ran quickly.

  • Describes Adjective (To what extent): Very cold.

  • Describes Adverb (How often): Almost daily.

A word that shows expression or extra emotion.

Examples:

A phrase that shows position (time or location). The phrase must begin with a preposition and end with an object.

Examples: in a tree, around the bend, under the table, for the teacher.
