Comparatives

We use comparatives to COMPARE two nouns.

Example

A cheetah is faster than a tiger.

Which one is taller?

Comparative structure

Noun + verb to be + adjective(er) + than + noun
Lion  +         is         +  heavier        + than   + a dog

Superlatives

Say that something or someone is the most or the least of a group.

Example

The elephant is the biggest animal.

Who is the tallest?

Superlative form

Noun + verb to be + the + adjective (+est)
Hannah +       is      + the  + tallest.
or 
Noun + verb to be + the + most/least + adjective
Hannah +     is       + the  + most/least + intelligent.
