NOUN

• Function or job: thing or person

• Example: Pencil, cat, book

• Sentence: This is my cat.

VERB

• Function or job: action or state

• Example: get, come, cut, open, like

• Sentence: I like people.

ADVERB

• Function or job: Describes a verb, adjective or adverb.

• Example: silently, badly, realy

• Sentence: My cat eats quickly.

ADJECTIVE

• Function or job: Describes a noun

• Example: small, big, good, well, blue

• Sentence: We like bif cake.

PRONOUN

• Function or job: Replace a noun

• Example: I, you, he, she, it, we, they

• Sentence: He is very clever.

PREPOSITION

• Function or job: Links a noun to another word.

• Example: at, in, of, on, after, under

• Sentence: She was hiding under the table.

CONJUNCTION

• Function or job: Joins clauses or sentences.

• Example: but, and, while, when.

• Sentence: I am very hungry, but the fridge is empty.

INTERJECTION

• Function or job: Short exclamation.

• Example: Oh!, Hi!, ouch!, Wow!

• Sentence: Wow! What a beautiful car.
