Course Description

This is a semester course that will examine African American literature and history. The course will examine fiction, nonfiction, drama, and poetry.   Through close readings of selected text, the students will continue to develop to their analytical and writing skills.

  • Ultimately, the student is the one responsible for his or her performance and grade.

  • It is the student’s responsibility to keep up with all assignments and ensure the student earns the grade he or she desires

Grading Policy

  • Students and parents have access to the Beaufort County School District parent and teacher Power School Grade Portal.

  •  Students will make up missed assignments during designated Warrior Time or a time set aside by the teacher. 

  •  Make up work will not be accepted after the end of the quarter in which it was assigned.

ZOOM Expectations 

  • Login 3-5 minutes before class starts. 

  • Make sure you mic is muted.  

  • Having your camera on is a requirement.  I should be able to see your face.  

  • Zoom in a quiet area with minimal distractions.  

  • Dress appropriately.  No Hoodies or head coverings.  If you won't wear it to school, don't wear it on zoom.  

  • Make sure your first and last name is displayed.  This is necessary for attendance.  

  • Chat responsibly.  Put your questions in the chat.  I get a printout of the chats after every session.  Your messages are not private.
