Ever thought what a percentage is? Well we use them in our daily lives so we all must have a fair idea of what they are, if not, you will know after today.

What is a percentage?

Basically, a percentage is a number expressed as a fraction of hundred. For a clearer understanding, take a look at this; The word per means for every or for each and the word cent means 100, therefore, a percentage is said to be a number for each hundred. The symbol for percentages is %

Expressing Percentages as Fractions

It is quiet simple to express percentages as fractions.
Steps: First divide the percentage by 100
e.g. 4% = 4/100
Then you simplify your fraction to its lowest terms
e.g. 4/100 = 1/25
