Where you should be up to

At the moment, you should have completed your initial designs for your outcome. If you are in 12DTC, they will be website designs whereas in 13DTC you have a choice in terms of what your outcome is.

In this presentation, I am focusing on the prototyping process.

3

Multiple Choice

Which of the following comes right before prototyping in the design process?

1

Stakeholder feedback on designs.

2

Brief development and inquiry questions

3

Research of similar designs and outcomes

4

Final feedback for your outcome.

4

Reviewing the design process

  • Inquiry question and hypothesis

  • Researching your topic and outcome

  • Looking at the relevant design elements and similar outcomes

  • Completing initial designs and wireframes

  • Getting stakeholder feedback for these initial designs

  • Creating a final design based on stakeholder feedback

  • Creating the final outcome
    Final evaluation

5

Poll

Which of the following steps are you up to in your own project?

Designs for my outcome

Still working on the brief

Researching similar outcomes

Coding and developing the final outcome

6

Creating the final outcome

As discussed before, iterative development of the outcome is ESSENTIAL for you to pass this year. Make sure you have regular updates of your project.

You need to actually DESCRIBE and DISCUSS the impact that various events, e.g. COVID-19, have on the development of your final outcome. Think about some of the following questions in the following slide.

7

Questions to consider when justifying your prototyping process.

  • How was I able to create the media (images, video, slideshow etc) for my final website?

  • What are some of the features related to the website that I need to elaborate on my Trello board or Google Doc?

  • How could I make the creation process smoother and flow better?

  • Is there sufficient evidence of my work on the online portfolio?

  • What are various ways I can show my process?

  • Have I reflected effectively on my progress so far?

  • Are there ways in which I can improve the quality of my outcome in the remaining 6 weeks or so?

8

Open Ended

Name some of the steps you need to complete to ensure a successful completion of your project.

9

Relevant implications

As part of the new digital technologies curriculum, you need to ensure that you cover some of the following relevant implications.

10

Open Ended

Using the previous slide as a guide, list 6 relevant implications. Remember for level 2 and 3, that you need to clearly explain and show how you addressed these relevant implications.

11

Multiple Choice

Which of the following relevant implications must be covered when dealing with a website or app?

1

Ensuring that the website/app is accessible and usable.

2

The information on the website is up-to-date and/or relevant for the topic chosen

3

Noone is offended by the material uploaded onto the app or website.

4

All of them

12

Open Ended

What relevant implications must you now focus one ensuring are dealt with to ensure that your outcome is fit for purpose? How are you going to support and evidence this on your online portfolio?

13

Importance of relevant implications

After you have chosen the relevant implications you want to focus on, you need to address them. This will involve providing evidence that you actually dealt with the issues raised when discussing these relevant implications.
