Simple, Compound, or Complex
We have been spending a lot of time talking about sentences. We are almost to the end of the line!

Simple Sentences
A simple sentence contains a subject and a predicate, and expresses a complete thought. It is an independent clause.
Examples:
The grass is green.
We walked away.
I like to read.

Open Ended
Write me a simple sentence.

Compound Sentence
Compound sentences are simple sentences put together with conjuntions such as and, but, and or. This is two independent clause connected together by a conjuntion.
WE USE A COMMA, CONJUNCTION PATTERN WHEN WRITING THESE!!!!!
Examples:
David goes to Boxwood School, and he is in Mr.Rosetti's sixth-grade class.
We like to play outside, but we also like to play indoors.
I could make dinner, or I could order pizza.

Complex Sentence
A complex sentence is made from an independent and dependent clause. The dependent clause is usually going to start with a suboordination conjunction such as after, although, because, if, since, until, when...
Example:
If she ever gets the chance, Terri would love to visit the Egyptain pyramids.

Subjects and Predicates
The subject tells whom or what the sentence is about.
The predicate tells what the subject is doing.

A Sentence fragment is an incomplete sentence. They are missing either a subject or a predicate.
A run-on sentence are two or more sentence that run together. They can be seperated into two or more sentences.

Types of Sentences
Declaritive: gives a statement. Ends in a period.
Interrogative: Asks a question: Ends in a question mark.
Imperatice: Gives a command. Ends in either a period or an explamation point.
Exclamatory: Shows strong emotion. Ends with an exclamation mark.
