WHAT’S THE MATTER?

Matter is the stuff you see all around you. Anything that takes up space and has mass is matter. All matter is made up of atoms.

Physical Properties

1) Can be measured without changing the substance into something new

2) No new substance is created

3) Can be Intensive – doesn’t depend on the size of the substance e.g. color, density, melting point

4) Can be Extensive – does depend on the size e.g. the volume or mass of the substance
