In this presentation, we will discuss the procedures that you and your teacher will follow for a fire emergency or drill.

COVID-19 Safety Guidelines and Emergencies and Drills

  • Emergency procedures for the different types of drills we will complete this year will look a little different this year because of COVID-19. 

  • Social distancing will be observed during all drills and during an emergency if the situation allows.  

  • Masks will be worn during any emergency or drill.

During a fire emergency or drill, the fire alarm will be activated or the principal will use the intercom to alert everyone of the emegency or drill.

What do you do if the fire alarm is activated or when the principal announces a fire emergency or drill?

  • You will quietly line up in a calm and orderly manner.

  • You will quietly exit the classroom while being lead by the teacher. 

  • The last student to leave the room should close the door. 

  • The teacher will lead you to the designated exit to the evacuation site.

What will happen after you have arrived at the evacuation site?

  • You will quietly line up at the evacuation site. 

  • Your teacher will account for each student in the class. 

  • If every student is accounted for then your teacher will hold up a green card.

  • If a student(s) are missing or teacher needs assistance then your teacher will hold up a red card which alerts the School Emergency Management Team to located the missing student(s).

When everything is safe....

  • You will hear me or someone say All Clear.

  • When the All Clear signal is given then your class can re-enter the building.
