Unit Intro
This unit bundles student expectations that address rhetorically analyzing and writing informational and argumentative texts, specifically focusing on genre characteristics, author's craft, and the impact each has on the message and intended audience.

During Unit
Students will analyze a variety of informational and argumentative texts for key ideas and the way in which organizational intended audience, and thesis as well as how the author uses evidence, facts, and details to support their thesis through close reading strategies such as notetaking and annotating.

Student Help/CFO
To help students develop a deeper understanding of their reading, students will summarize and paraphrase texts as part of the comprehension process and utilize text evidence to support their understanding. Students also practice fundamentals of research by reading a variety of sources to gather and synthesize reliable, credible information in order to learn about a topic. Through a transfer of reading comprehension skills, students will apply author's craft to their own products.
