Event-driven programming is when blocks execute when their event is triggered instead of executing in sequential flow of control from top to bottom. Event-driven programming allows us write programs that respond to mouse clicks, the green flag, and other defined actions that trigger our events and change the flow of execution.
3
event
blocks of code that trigger corresponding behavior (example: Green Flag - starts program)
4
broadcast
When blocks of code are executed at a given time by communicating (or broadcasting) a message.
5
code statement
is a part of program code that expresses an action to be carried out
6
Sensing Blocks
light-blue colored Boolean blocks that are used to detect different factors or a project such as touching.
7
placeholder
a variable for a particular value or attribute.
8
attributes
a description of what the computer is doing or the values of variables at any given moment.
9
10
11
Output
Any data sent from a program to a device. This is usually observable by the person using the program.
12
13
Processing
Instructing the computer to do some calculations. Processing can be used to solve problems or create animations.
14
15
Input
Any data sent to a program to affect its behavior. In Scratch this is most commonly User Input through key presses and mouse clicks, but programs can sometimes take input from other programs.

19
Behavior
Output, processing, and input combine yo create the behavior of a program. The behavior of a program is how a program functions during execution and is often described by how a user interacts with it.
20
21
state
a description of what the computer is doing or the values of variables at any given moment.
22
23
position
the x and y coordinates on the stage in Scratch.
