ELS ASQ#4
Let's have review through our Essential Learning Skills Activity: Applying Scientific Questions
4
Multiple Choice
Which of the following statements about speed and velocity is correct?
Velocity only describes an object's rate of motion.
Speed describes how an object is changing its velocity.
Speed and velocity both describe how an object is speeding up.
Only velocity includes the direction an object is traveling.
5
Multiple Choice
Acceleration describes how an object's velocity is changing. Which of the following scenarios provides the best example of an accelerating object?
A car driving at a constant speed.
A book sitting on top of a high shelf.
A toy train traveling in a circle.
A toy boat floating in a bathtub.
6
Multiple Choice
A ball is thrown upward in the air with an initial velocity of 40 m/s. How long does it take to reach back to the point it was thrown from?
4 seconds
5 seconds
8 seconds
10 seconds
7
Multiple Choice
A ball is thrown up in the air with an initial velocity of 40 m/s. What is the ball's velocity after 2 seconds?
0 m/s
20 m/s travelling downward
20 m/s travelling upward
40 m/s travelling downward
8
Multiple Choice
A ball is thrown up in the air with an initial velocity of 40 m/s. What is the ball's velocity after 6 seconds?
20 m/s traveling upward.
20 m/s traveling downward.
30 m/s traveling downward.
10 m/s traveling downward.

Articulation of Purpose and Objectives
From checking your smartphone if there is a message from someone to playing sports that involves throwing or shooting objects involves a highly sophisticated measured motion variables. For example, the way you send and receive messages using your smartphone is through such artificial satellites orbiting the earth and endlessly sending and receiving data from the other parts of the world. Another thing is how such critical to be accurate and precise in playing sports that involves throwing or shooting objects such as basketball, badminton, volleyball, baseball, and many more alike in order to win such sports competitions.
19
Articulation of Purpose and Objectives
Also, we must be critically responsible on how we facilitate such motion involving two-dimensional and three-dimensional related activities because the improper use of such method can incur structural damages and for the worst case scenario – claim the lives of the people you may or may not know. With this, it teaches us to be critical thinkers that will help us in our life as it is reflected in our Program Educational Objectives.
20
Articulation of Purpose and Objectives
So, at the end of this learning module, you should be able to recognize whether or not a physical situation involves a two-dimensional or three-dimensional motion, evaluate the context of involving two-dimensional and three-dimensional motion in contexts through analytical method and interpreting graphs, and, actualize the sense of responsibility in demonstrating and proposing solutions related to two-dimensional and three-dimensional motion. All of these would help us think intelligently and critically in real-life situations as stated in the K-12 curriculum desired outcomes.
