Adding and Subtracting Decimals

• Step 1 - Line up the Decimals in both numbers

• Step 2 - Place Zeros in for place holders in any missing spots

• Step 3 - Bring the decimal STRAIGHT down

• Step 4 - Add/subtract each place value (column)

Dividing with Decimals

• If the Divisor (outside number or number in front of the division sentence) is whole, then you bring decimal straight up into answer.

• If the Divisor has a decimal, you have to take it out to make it a whole number, BUT...you have to move the decimal on the inside the same amount of places, then bring decimal straight up.
