Parietal versus visceral - think about the organs in each cavity being double bagged
Parietal serous membrane is the outer baggy
Visceral serous membrane is the inner baggy
This provides pressure control that is hugely important, especially in maintaining the lungs -- punctured lung means a punctured pleural sac which means equalized pressure with the outside which means a collapsed lung
29
Multiple Select
What two reasons are there for why our cavities have two serous membrane linings?
To reduce friction
To maintain internal pressure
To make sure organs don't fall out
