ACTION VERBS
Action verbs can be physical actions - Mr. Showman ran down the hall.
OR
Action verbs can be mental actions - Mrs. Jorgensen doubts it will snow soon.

LINKING VERBS
Remember linking verbs are used to connect the subject with describes or identifies it.
Mrs. Jorgensen is a teacher.
Mr. Showman was hungry for lunch.
Ms. Lurski is new to Bennington Middle School.

Appear, Become, Feel, Grow, Look, Seem, Remain, Smell, Sound, Stay, Taste
You have to think through the sentence to decide if it is an action or linking (connecting!) verb.
