Flats, Sharps, and Naturals

Accidentals are musical symbols that change pitch.

There are THREE common types of Accidentals

• Natural

• Flat

• Sharp

A Flat sign LOWERS the pitch of a note

A Sharp sign RAISES the pitch of a note

A Natural sign CANCELS a flat or sharp

Accidentals are located to the LEFT of the note.
