• Multiply the term outside the parenthesis to all terms inside the parenthesis

• We do this to remove the parenthesis

• You should always simplify a problem if you are able.

Solving multi-step equations

• Remember! The goal in solving a multi-step equation is to isolate the variable.

• This means you want to get the variable by itself on one side of the equation.

• Always Simplify (distribute/combine like terms) both sides of the problem before trying to solve.
