Words You Need to Know:
Constructed Response- are questions that require more elaborate answers and explanations of reasoning. Students must generate a response as opposed to selecting response.
Cite- quote (a passage, book, or author) as evidence for or justification of an argument or statement
Restate- state again or differently, especially in order to correct or to make more clear or convincing.
Explain- make clear by describing it in more detail or revealing relevant facts or ideas.

Why use the RACE Strategy? To make writing easier!
RACE is a strategy that will help you (students) write open-ended constructed responses. It teaches students to do what good writers do naturally—restating the question in a complete sentence, answering all parts of the question, citing evidence and fully explaining.
