The French and Indian War
This war was fought because Great Britain wanted to gain control of the Ohio River Valley because it had rich and fertile soil for farming. The war was ended with both sides signing the Treaty of Paris. Because this war was so expensive, Great Britain was in a lot of debt and they needed money. So The Parliament of Great Britain decided to make the colonist pay for the war by imposing new laws on them.

The Boston Tea Party
This event occurred when the Sons of Liberty dressed up as Indians and emptied 342 chest of tea into the Boston Harbor. The colonist were protesting the Tea Act.

What you should know about the Boston Massacre...
On March 5, 1770, a fight began with a crowd of people in Boston argued with a British solider. The crowd yelled insults and threw snowballs. More soldiers arrived, and suddenly one of them fired a shot. Then several other soldiers fired their guns. Five colonist were killed. This event affected the relationship between the colonist and England, but it angered the colonist more than it angered King George III.

Benjamin Franklin told the colonist if we don't join together to fight the British, we will all die.

The Sons of Liberty
A group of organized men who protested and used violence to show resistance to the new taxes. Samuel Adams was an important leader of the organized group, but his cousin John Adams defended the British soldiers who started the Boston Massacre.
