SWBAT: Distinguish between and relation and a function given a mapping, chart, equation, or graph.

Relation

• Set of ordered pairs

• Examples: {(1,3),(3,6), (9,10), (4,4)

Function:

• Set of ordered pairs who "x" value does not repeat

• Example: {(1,2), (2,3),(4,5),(6,10)

X-Value

• Domain

• Input

• Independent variable

Y-Value

• Range

• Output

• Dependent Variable

Vertical Line Test

• If vertical line touches graph more than once-NOT A FUNCTION

• If vertical line touches graph only one then a FUNCTION
