Point of View

The view from which the story is told

First Person

Point of View

Told from the aspect of one person who is the narrator.

Uses the words, "I" and "me."

Third Person Objective

The action is told to the reader through the narrator who is only observing the action.

Uses words like He, She, and They

Third Person Objective

Third Person Objective does not know the thoughts of the characters in the story.

The narrator can only see what is happening in the story.

(Like watching a movie)

Third Person Limited

The narrator sees the story thought the eyes of one character.

The narrator DOES know the thoughts of that one character.

The narrator is NOT the main character.

Third Person Omniscient

The narrator is outside the story but has access to the minds and thoughts of all characters.
