A Prime Number is:

  • a number that is divisible only by itself and 1 (e.g. 2, 3, 5, 7, 11, 13, 17, 19, 23, 29, 31, 37, 41, 43, 47)

  • When a number cannot be divided up exactly it is a Prime Number

A Composite Number is:

  • a positive number that can be formed by multiplying two smaller positive numbers. Equivalently, it is a positive number that has at least one divisor other than 1 and itself

  • When a number can be divided up exactly it is a Composite Number

The prime factorization of a number is the product of prime numbers that equals the number.
