Steps

• Determine if you can write a general (only 2 x-intercepts or a double zero) or a specific equation (2 x-intercepts and a 3rd point)

• Write down the formula y=k(x-x₁)(x-x₂)

• Fill in what you know

• If you can only write a general equation make a statement about k. (

   $k\epsilon R,\ or\ k\epsilon R^+,\ or\ k\epsilon R^-$  )

• If you have a third point, solve for k and then write your equation.
