Simchat Torah

It takes one year to read the whole Torah. Every week Jews around the world read the same part of the Torah, called a parsha. When the last parsha of the year is complete and we are ready to start the Torah over, we celebrate Simchat Torah.


Many Jewish people celebrate with Hakafot, which is parading the Torah around the synagogue.

Rosh HaShana is the first of Tishrei, Yom Kippur is the tenth, Sukkot is the fifteenth and Simchat Torah is the twenty-third

-Means 'Head of the Year'

-Celebrates the Jewish New Year as commanded by God

  • We say 'Shana Tova' which means Happy New Year
